Dear Blog Readers,
First and foremost have a Happy Easter and Passover. As a child raised in a Roman Catholic household, Easter was a time to make a fresh start. Part of the Easter ritual was getting new clothing. My parents bought us each a new outfit to wear to Church. Even the socks and shoes were to be new. It was and is a time of hope because it is a time specifically designated to start things anew. Now it's time for a new district attorney in El Paso, Hudspeth and Culberson.
Yesterday, Stuart Leeds (faithful supporter and sometimes chauffer) and I participated in the annual NorthEaster Parade in the Northeast. The rain stopped at exactly fifteen minutes to ten. The Parade started at ten. While Stuart drove the car, which has new campaign magnetic signs on the sides (thanks to the campaign contributions I have been getting) I waived to the crowds. And let me tell you the people out in the Northeast are serious about their parade. Despite the rain and the cold, they were out there with their kids all bundled up to watch and waive. Vendors were selling cotton candy and plastic toys. It was very festive.
There were a lot of thumbs up as I passed. Several people told me they wished me the best. I heard one woman say, "Yes, she's running for D.A. against that ...."
I have a new video up. Be sure to check it out. I am very happy to introduce to you part of my wonderful family. The video features my sister Jennifer and her and her husband's four beautiful children, my nieces Karina, Leah and Dorothy (named after my mother) and my nephew Aidan. My siblings and their spouses are supportive of my campaign and are with me every step of the way. My three sisters are very talented attorneys and each one is a credit to the profession. My brother is a devoted gradeschool teacher. My sister Jennifer has helped me on two of my biggest cases, one of them being the Nancy Hollebeke civil rights trial. Nancy and I were challenging an entire police department, a city government covering up, an intentionally botched rape investigation and a corrupt district attorney and my sister Jennifer walked right up the steps of the Federal court house with us proud to be fighting for the truth.
Now my family is helping in my race and they want only good for El Paso. They wish you a happy Easter in the video. Stay tuned for tomorrow's blog which will feature another kind of video.
